For Memorial Day weekend we booked a site through Hipcamp.com north of us about 3 hours along the coast. Our campsite was in a field of tall grass on the Paddocks of a sheep farm a few hundred yards from the ocean. We spent the weekend near Manchester State Park and were joined by our good friends Erica, Evie and Steve for this adventure! Erica flew out from DC to see us and to have a West Coast adventure with her brother. While Evie and Steve currently live about 2 hours east of Manchester so it was a great meeting point.

Paddocks (6 of 6)

It was a super relaxing weekend with great weather. We were even able to sit out on the beach and enjoy the sun, which is very rare on the West coast. (Usually it is far too windy and cold to sit for long periods of time on the beach.) The slightly sun burnt shins and various body parts that came from this day were an itchy reminder of our East coast days.

Check out those wildflowers!

Besides hanging out at the beach, we also spent time feeding the sheep, cooking great camp meals, chatting, catching up, lounging and hammocking.

Our campsite was one of 6 sites in the Paddocks. The campground is a work in progress and its bathroom facilities were pretty primitive but also always super clean. Before this trip, we decided to buy a Campla Portable Pop up Dressing/Changing Tent to take along with us when we camp in Woody. It looks a little like an old phone booth and allows us to stand up while changing. It also lets us feel a little bit like Superman in the meantime.

Memorial Day camping was wonderful. We enjoyed some beautiful sunsets over the ocean and some great times with some great friends.
