Saturday morning we set out on an adventure in our own backyard. Less than 40 miles from our house is Point Reyes National Seashore. We woke up super early in the morning, crossed over the Golden Gate Bridge and as the ONLY car on the road, we we able to easily explore this beautiful protected land.

Check out this awesome drone video taken with Ryan's Mavic!!!

We drove and hiked all the way to the last tip of the point at

Chimney Rock.

Chimney Rock is home to many Elephant Seals, Elk and Deer. We watched seals sparring with each other and relaxing on the shore. While watching the drone video, you can see them flop across the beach. (Ryan is very careful not to fly too close to wildlife as to not disturb them, that's why you can't see them too well in the video but look close, they are there)

The weather started out overcast and foggy (as seen in the video) but by the time we were leaving, we needed sunglasses and the layers came off.

Point Reyes National Seashore is 66,500 acres of hiking trails, secluded beaches, and rugged grasslands along the coast. It was first discovered by Sir Francis Drake in 1579, we discovered it this weekend. And there is so much more for us to explore in the next few years. Stay tuned for more blog posts, this is certainly going to be our new regular weekend adventure.

Cypress Tree Tunnel: The Monterey cypress trees that now create the "tree tunnel" at the Point Reyes Receiving Station were planted around 1930.
