2018

was a spectacular year for us, filled with epic adventures near and far.

January

: The year started out a bit slow, I was still sick from the wicked evil flu so we stayed pretty close to home and did a few coastal drives to get some fresh air. We visited the Monterrey Bay Aquarium on one of my healthiest days and Ryan earned all of the "Good Husband" points.

February:

Marked Cailyn's 10th birthday. A huge milestone worth celebrating. I flew to DC for her party and we went on  hike in

Samuel P Taylor State Park

to help us get back in the swing of things.

March:

Was Ryan's Birthmonth! We worked in the garden and welcomed the arrival of our amazing

Mocha Master

! We celebrated Ryan's birthmonth by going out to some of San Francisco's ocean front restaurants and taking advantage of this beautiful place we live. We got to cross the bridge for Evie and Steve's Sausalito sunset wedding overlooking the Bay.  It was great to see so many old friends and to celebrate the marriage of #Stevie!

April:

In April we celebrated our marriage with our east coast friends and family. We flew to Florida for our

Post Wedding Celebration

.  When we got back from Florida, Ryan got a well earned promotion to Director of the California branch of his company and then we went on our

Spring Break Road trip

.

May:

We were lucky enough to go on two wonderful camping trips in May. First, we journeyed south to

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

where we met up with some friends from San Diego. We joined Jason and Chelsea in beautiful

Big Sur

and almost witnessed their engagement! Then we spent Memorial Day near

Manchester State Park

and were joined by our good friends Erica, Evie and Steve for a

Hipcamp

adventure in the

Paddocks

!

June:

Ryan traveled to the Minnesota office and I worked on finishing up the school year. We spent time planning for our Iceland trip and I was able to squeeze in a quick trip to New Mexico to see Mattie and Tas.

July:

July was a busy, jam-packed AWESOME month! We said good-bye to some great friends as they moved back to the Frozen North and then we had an epic adventure in

Iceland

, where we saw amazing waterfalls and icebergs. We had back to back visits from great friends (Jason and Chelsea and then Andrea, Dynel and Will) which allowed us to be tourists in our own town. And, I journeyed to Hawaii to spend time with Nellie and her wonderful family.

August:

Back to school. We had a visit from Andrew Clark and ate nachos! Ryan started my epic Birthmonth a little early with surprise tickets to see Ed Sheeran in concert and we did some coastal exploring.

September:

Danni's Birthmonth! Ryan outdid himself this year and took us camping, then in a hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley and then to a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in San Francisco for an

Experience Extraganza!

In addition to Birthmonth, we also had a great visit from Ryan's Uncle Willie, another trip to Minnesota and a chance to meet the new wife of our good friend Pops.

October:

We took another

road trip

to the beautiful state of Oregon and Ryan took his own epic road trip on the east coast for work. In one week, he visited DC, Philly, NY and Boston. Then he flew home in style with his First Class upgrade which included smoked duck appetizers and a sundae bar for dessert.

November:

In November, the state of California experienced the worst wildfires in history. We watched as the sky turned grey and the smoke from the fires (300 miles away) invaded San Francisco. During the smoke days, the office was closed down and schools were cancelled. We were able to keep Friendsgiving as scheduled and somehow fit nearly 20 people inside the house. When the rains finally came and cleared out the smoke, we got back outside and visited

Pinnacles National Park

.

December:

December was our month of visiting. After setting up our Christmas tree and decorations, we flew to Minnesota together for the company Christmas party. While there we got to visit with all of our friends who have influenced our lives and Ryan's career. When we got back we had our first annual Cookies and Cocktails party and then set out on another amazing road trip, this time south. We drove down to San Diego where we were able to visit with Ryan's family and some more of our amazing friends.

This has been a year filled with love, adventure, joy and friendship. Here's to 2019 being more of the same!
